CIA Original Competition Award
Members of the CIA Music Committee have been continually evaluating the program requirements of the various Coupe Mondiale categories, and this year established a new format to promote original works for the accordion.

Instead of requiring candidates to perform a Test Piece in the Coupe Mondiale, this year the CIA will offer a Special Recognition Award for Best New Original Solo Work, composed in 2007/2008, presented at the Coupe Mondiale for the first time in both Classical and Entertainment.

Classical: Contestants from the Coupe Mondiale, the Junior Coupe Mondiale and the International Competition for Piano Accordion who wish to have their new work(s) considered for this award, will be required to perform the piece(s) on Saturday, 25th October, 2008. This will ensure that the same jury hears the new works presented for consideration.

Virtuoso Entertainment: Contestants from the Senior and Junior Virtuoso Entertainment will have their nominated works considered for this award as they perform their competition program.
