Junior International Competition for Virtuoso Entertainment Music

As the competitions continued, 13 young accordionists from around the world competed in Round I of the Junior International Competition for Virtuoso Entertainment Music where they were required to play:
- OWN CHOICE PROGRAM:
Own choice program consisting of at least two (2) pieces of different
styles and moods.
- Playing time: maximum
7 minutes. Failure to observe the maximum playing time will result
in a mark penalty.

Workshop - Accordion History Lecture/Demo by Dr. Helmi Harrington
|
Dr. Helmi Harrington, curator of the World of Accordions Museum presented a magnificent workshop about the History of the Accordion to a standing room only audience. Taking attendees on a journey from the beginning of the accordion's history to present day instruments and all the variations inbetween, Dr. Harrington's presentation was full of historical facts and interesting information about the intrument's development, with many live performances on the various types of instruments.

7th Roland V-Accordion Festival
|
Roland held their national competition for V-Accordionists, featuring the top three finalists from an earlier video competition. The three contestants were Michael Bridge, Michael Majstorovic and Sergiu Popa.
Roland artist Ludovic Beier opened the concert, followed by the national finalists competing for the Roland V-Accordion title. To conclude the evening, three former Roland V-Accordion National Canadian winners performed as soloists and then together as an All Star Trio. The Trio comprised Jelena Milojevic (2010 Winner), Alexander Sevastian (2009 Winner) and Ivan Preanicov (2008 Winner).

Winner of the 2013 Roland V-Accordion Canada festival is Michael Bridge who will receive a brand new Roland accordion and an all expenses paid trip to Rome to compete in the 2013 International V-Accordion festival. |
